Things to know

I keep my client base small.

I want to provide you the very best possible service and be my best self for you and my own my family. Doing a smaller number of births each month ensures that I am available for your due date and I am fully present and invested. A burnt out doula is not a helpful doula.

In other words, my calendar does fill up and it’s never too early to book.

Do you provide doula-only services?

I do not. There’s many wonderful doulas in the area, but I am the only certified birth photographer and doula in the Triangle Area and I want to offer the fullest of my skills. If someone wants doula-only support, I’m happy to make a referral. If cost is a concern, you can choose a smaller gallery package. I also offer savings for my home birth families.

It is an investment.

You get what you pay for. I have the wisdom of many labors and extensive training. Investing in me means you can expect a top- notch doula who can anticipate your needs and provide a very personal service. Birth is a very sensitive and high-stakes environment and you want someone in your space who knows the stuff.

I hold myself to high standards. If you want bargain price and bargain quality, I am not the choice for you.

If the full service is not in your budget, I have a few off-call options for less. Or you can explore my virtual doula option.

I am located in South Durham.

I will travel within about an hour radius from my home. If you think you may be outside my radius, reach out and we can chat about the distance.

For the right client, I am willing to travel farther a small travel fee.

I have a back-up plan.

In my history as a doula I have worked with a team. I found that for me, it was lacking in rich, personal connection with my families and I decided to pursue solo work. However, while I do not have an official business partner, I keep in touch with several back-ups so I have a plan for those very rare times when I’m not available. Birth, like life is never predictable so I am prepared for any situation.

You can expect honesty.

I will never tell you what is right for you. But you can expect me to be very honest about best practices, my feelings on certain facilities or procedures and the benefits vs. risks. I see it as my job to help you make very informed choices.

If you are not looking for a level beyond what you get from a standard doctor visit, I may not be the doula for you.
